About us

The safety of meals outside the home is a concern for 97 percent of those following a gluten-free diet.

According to research, more than 4 percent of Finnish working-age people follow a gluten-free diet. These more than 150,000 potential customers also bring their friends to a restaurant or café. Often, a restaurant is chosen based on where a customer following a special diet will receive good service and safe food that is suitable for their diet. However, according to a survey of the Finnish Celiac Disease Association members, the safety of meals outside the home is a concern for 97 percent of those following a gluten-free diet. The Finnish Celiac Disease Association is a national patient organization that aims to promote the well-being of people with celiac disease and cutaneous celiac disease, as well as other people who need a gluten-free diet, and their loved ones. One of our tasks is to promote the conditions for the success of gluten-free diet treatment, i.e. to support the safety, availability, selection and quality of gluten-free products and services. We train, advise and guide restaurant and café professionals, teachers and students in matters related to gluten-free. We have launched a new Gluten-Free Safely online course for catering professionals and companies. The course is a concise and clear package, the content of which covers key information on the safe preparation and serving of gluten-free foods and pastries, as well as correct labelling. We will inform you about current issues related to gluten-free and our trainings in our newsletter aimed at catering professionals.
