During the spring, a production line will be installed at the Sinebrychoff brewery, where all of Sinebrychoff’s alcohol-free beer brands — Crisp and Karhu 0,0 — will be produced in the future. The method of production is known as alcohol stripping or alcohol stripping, which is more advanced technology and allows alcohol-free beer to be made more controlled.
“With new technology, the removal of alcohol from beer is even more gentle and the beer stays fresher. In the negative pressure technology method, beer is first brewed like the rest of our beer. After that, alcohol is removed from it, up to zero. The technology also gives us a broader development possibilities with low-alcohol beers,” says Heikki Vuokko, Head Brewmaster at Sinebrychoff.
Installation work on the new production line will be carried out in January and February, with the first CRISP beers being completed in mid-March. The goal is that in the summer of 2023, a large part of Crispei and Karhu 0.0% will be completed already in Kerava and all at the end of the year.
The investment is a million-dollar investment in size, but more significant than its monetary value as a change in beer culture.
In just over fifteen years, the market for alcohol-free beer has increased more than twenty-fold. During the recent period of strong growth, Sinebrychoff’s non-alcoholic beer volume has even tripled in five years (2017-2022).
Sinebrychoff’s portfolio includes seven alcohol-free CRISP beers in early 2023, a alcohol-free Karhu 0.0%, and four imported alcohol-free beers: Brooklyn Special Effects Hoppy Lager 0.4%, Brooklyn Special Effects IPA 0.4%, K1664 Blanc 0.5% and Staropramen Non-Alcoholic. In addition, the range includes alcohol-free KOFF Long Drink, two alcohol-free Somersby ciders and Crowmoor White Crow 0.0%.
