The first ever pizza school was organized at the premises of VIP Bartenders in Espoo on January 18, 2023. Pizza-making was taught under the leadership of master bakers Ivari Retsä and Mikko Peltone and with six different ovens. The school went through the techniques and tricks for making your own pizza dough, processing and shaping the pizza base, using raw materials, and baking pizza in different ovens.
The finished pizza was made from a 250 gram Pirkka Parhaat frozen dough ball from Pizzanpaistajien. The drinks side was handled by VIP Bartenders, which also organizes corporate events and drink schools at the same location.
The farthest pupils had come to the event from Tampere and Hanko. It seemed that the pizza brought the students together and we observed casual conversation among the students. It’s great that there are so many great guys in our community who are interested in learning more about pizza!
Three school hours passed in no time. Everyone got self-made pizza dough for later use, and in the pizza box you could take pieces of pizza to the home team, in case someone didn’t eat something.
The next event will be held on February 1st, and the goal is to continue the pizza school every month. We hope that the pizza school will give each student new inspiration and perspective on making their own pizza.
