CARBON FOOTPRINT REPORT
We wanted to find out the impact of manufacturing our products on the climate, so that we can develop our operations in a more climate-friendly direction. In 2021, we implemented a carbon footprint calculation project at Teerenpeli Brewery & Distillery, where the carbon footprint was calculated for our five different beverage product groups both at the brewery gate and when delivered to the restaurant. OWN PELLET POWER PLANT AS A SOURCE OF PRODUCTION ENERGY
We use our own wood pellet power plant as a source of production energy at Teerenpeli Brewery & Distillery. The energy source is wood pellets, which are byproducts of the forest industry. Our pellets come from the Versowood factories in Vierumäki, just tens of kilometers from the brewery and distillery. Our carbon footprint report shows that the pellet power plant produces 950 Megawatt hours of energy per year. The energy of the pellet power plant is 100% renewable and its climate impact is about 10% compared to oil or natural gas. Watch the video of our pellet power plant on YouTube.
LOCALITY AND RAW MATERIAL
For Teerenpeli, locality is the world’s cleanest groundwater and barley harvested from nearby fields as the main raw material for our beverage products. In addition, we cooperate with the environmental capital of Europe in 2021, our hometown Lahti, and it is a desire to constantly develop and improve so that we can always do better.
